We have just been asked to do an exercise where we pick out magazines and newspapers that we would like to work for from the partners of Catch22. These are the companies that give Catch 22 the money to run the course in exchange for getting one or two of us (the students) as an intern when the course has run its course.

One paper that I would like to work in on the sports pages is The Mirror. I admire the sports coverage on The Mirror so it would be more than I am hoping for. It's main competitor is TheSun,b it has a circulation of 3.5m readers daily and is owned by, and is the flagship for, Trinity Mirror, a huge conglomerate of national and and less well known papers.

Even more exciting would be if I could work on Q Magazine. I love music and writing about music so this would be really cool. They are a part of Bauer Media which is a giant of publishing company who own FHM, MOJO and Empire magazine. They have so many publications I wouldn't be able to say who was their Flagship magazine. They also have apparently lost count of how much they sell because I couldn't find any circulation figures on their website.

Another one that I found that would be a great magazine to work for because I love football would be Four Four Two. They also have a football website which is good quality and well written. Their competitors include Team Talk.com and The BBC Sports website. Four Four Two is owned by Haymarket who own a LOT of publications and websites. So many that I have lost count. They are also too busy to keep count of details like their circulations. They also do magazines for the BBC as well as publications like Sports Car.
